Richard Fliegel is the author of mystery novels and thrillers published by Bantam, Simon & Schuster, Chelmsford Press, and Open Road Media. He has written for television, including "Star Trek: the Next Generation," and co-created a pilot, "El Coyote," for Disney and ABC Network Television. He has also penned screenplays, stage plays, stories, and poems.

Most afternoons Dr. Fliegel can be found at the University of Southern California (USC), where he serves as Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs in Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, directing university-wide programs and creating interdisciplinary curricula. His research, with John Holland, explores the use of student writing to assess change in critical thinking.
